Joe Sorren : Paintings Joe Sorren and Jud Bergeron : Collaborative Sculpture November 6 - January 2, 2011 Joe Sorren is a young, Arizona-based illustrator turned painter. In 1995, he had his first LA solo exhibition at Kantor Gallery. In 1997 he won a gold medal at the prestigious Society of Illustrators annual competition, New York and won a gold medal at the Society of Illustrators competition, Los Angeles in 1998. His illustrations have appeared in the New Yorker, Time Magazine, Atlantic Monthly and Rolling Stone. His paintings resemble expressively painted children's book illustrations; they are mostly cheery with a slight edge or suggestion of unrest, discontentment or mischief. |
